I get an error saying I have connection problems when I try to activate Bit Optimizer

In order to activate Bit Optimizer you must connect with licensing servers so they can verify your license key is valid. If you are getting an error saying there is no valid connection, but your internet connection is working correctly, Bit Optimizer may be blocked from connecting.

Please check any firewalls or security programs that may be monitoring your internet use, and make sure they are not blocking Bit Optimizer. If you are using the Windows firewall, please find instructions on how to disable it below.

Windows XP:

  1. Click on Start, and then click on Run.
  2. Type in firewall.cpl, then click on OK.
  3. A window labeled Windows Firewall will appear. Please click on the Exceptions tab, then click the Add Program… button.
  4. Ensure the Exceptions tab is selected, then select Bit Optimizer from the list of programs.
  5. Now click OK.

Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  1. Click Start, and then select Control Panel.
  2. Click on Security Center and select Windows Firewall. If your Control panel is displayed in the Classic View, double-click on Security Center and click Windows Firewall.
  3. There should now be a window titled Windows Firewall. Near the top-left corner of your screen, click Allow a program through Windows Firewall. If you have not been granted administrative privileges on your user account, you will be prompted to enter an administrator password.
  4. Ensure the Exceptions tab is selected, then select Bit Optimizer from the list of programs.
  5. Now click OK.
